TLDSB ratifies agreement with local union workers
At the May 23rd Trillium Lakelands District School Board Regular Meeting, trustees ratified the terms of the Collective Agreement for CUPE Local 997, which represents the custodial/maintenance and office, clerical, technical, and educational assistants bargaining units.
The School Board says that between September 2022 and March 2023, seven days of negotiations led to a provisional deal on April 25. The local agreement recognizes the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation with a float day and changes the educational assistant posting and placement process.
The local agreement ratification allows CUPE workers to receive the centrally negotiated salary rise.
Bruce Reain, Board Chair, stated, “We are pleased to have labour stability with our CUPE Local 997 staff for the duration of this agreement.”
