Health unit advises parents update their children's immunization records to avoid suspension

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is urging parents to update their children's immunization records to avoid school suspensions.

Currently, there are 5,000 outstanding records for students in Grades four to six across the region.

The health unit stresses that up-to-date records are crucial for controlling disease outbreaks.

The health unit says that under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, incomplete records could lead to suspension.

Dr. Colin Lee, associate medical officer of health, advises families to act before the February 4th deadline.

Parents can also book immunization appointments at health unit offices across Simcoe Muskoka.
