New Arena Complex Moving Ahead In Bracebridge
Despite funding hiccups, a new Multi-Use Community Centre in Bracebridge is moving ahead.
The Town’s architectural services team is now preparing three separate tender packages for each component of the facility which allows it to be completed through a phased process. This will allow for three phases. Phase 1 is a build-out including the arena, lobby, community hall and site works. Phase 2 includes a new library and the Phase 3 addition incorporates a field house.
The project is estimated to cost $57.8 M. The design development was unanimously approved by Bracebridge Council in September.
Funding for the project was dealt a major blow in August when the Town’s application for funding under the Community, Culture and Recreation stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program was not nominated by the province to move forward for federal consideration.
Nonetheless work continues with an expected opening of the facility in March of 2023.
