A traffic stop has led to the arrest of two people and 14 drugs and weapons charges.

Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment stopped a vehicle on West Street at around eight last night for a Highway Traffic Act offence. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license and a further investigation yielded a sawed-off rifle, cocaine, fentanyl, Oxycocet, cash and scales.

42-year-old Steven Norman of Fenelon Falls and 29-year-old Kylie Brown of Huntsville face a number of charges including variants of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, five counts of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order, and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under Five Thousand Dollars. Norman is set for a bail hearing later today and Brown is scheduled for court on September 23rd.
